Sponsorship Terms and Conditions
For the Solo Dinghy Crossing: Scotland to Iceland – August 2026
1. Introduction
These Sponsorship Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern the agreement between the Solo Dinghy Crossing Team ("Organiser") and any individual or entity ("Sponsor") providing financial or in-kind support for the solo dinghy crossing from Scotland to Iceland, scheduled for August 2026 ("Event"). By entering into a sponsorship agreement, the Sponsor agrees to these Terms.
2. Sponsorship Commitment
The Sponsor agrees to provide the agreed-upon financial contribution or in-kind support (e.g., equipment, services) as outlined in the sponsorship agreement. Payments must be made according to the agreed schedule, and in-kind contributions must be delivered by the specified deadlines to ensure Event preparation.
3. Sponsor Benefits
In return for the sponsorship, the Organiser will provide the Sponsor with the agreed benefits, which may include, but are not limited to:
- Logo placement on the dinghy, sails, and other equipment.
- Mention in press releases, social media, and other promotional materials.
- Access to exclusive photos and videos from the Event for marketing purposes.
- Opportunities for joint media events or speaking engagements.
Specific benefits will be detailed in the sponsorship agreement. The Organiser reserves the right to adjust benefits if the Event scope changes, with prior notice to the Sponsor.
4. Branding and Intellectual Property
The Sponsor grants the Organiser a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use the Sponsor’s logo, trademarks, and other branding materials for Event-related promotions. The Organiser will ensure proper usage in accordance with the Sponsor’s brand guidelines. Similarly, the Sponsor may use Event-related content (e.g., photos, videos) for marketing, subject to the Organiser’s approval.
5. Event Cancellation or Postponement
The Organiser reserves the right to cancel or postpone the Event due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., extreme weather, safety concerns). In such cases, the Organiser will notify the Sponsor promptly and work to provide alternative benefits or refund a portion of the sponsorship, as agreed in the sponsorship agreement.
6. Liability and Indemnity
The Organiser will take reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of the Event but is not liable for any loss, damage, or injury arising from the Event, except where caused by gross negligence. The Sponsor agrees to indemnify the Organiser against any claims arising from the Sponsor’s actions or materials provided.
7. Termination
Either party may terminate the sponsorship agreement with written notice if the other party breaches these Terms or the sponsorship agreement. Upon termination, the Sponsor will cease using Event-related materials, and the Organiser will cease using the Sponsor’s branding.
8. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Scotland. Any disputes will be resolved through negotiation or, if necessary, in the courts of Scotland.
