The Wayfarer’s design ensures stability and versatility, making it ideal for the challenging 700-mile journey across the North Atlantic. Additional features include:
- Construction: FRP foam sandwich with bulkheads; epoxy-coated ballasted centreboard; FRP rudder.
- Mast/Boom/Pole: Super-spars stayed tapered aluminium mast, aluminium boom, and pole.
- Controls: Kicker and Cunningham led to both sides of thwart, outhaul on boom, genoa tracks with ratchets and cleats, Hellier roller reefing genoa, slab reefing main.
- Hardware: Allen and Sea-Sure hardware throughout.
- Sails: 5.5 oz Dacron cruising main with reef points, 5.5 oz roller reefing genoa, Dynacote silicone-coated asymmetric spinnaker.
